Q&A: Madonna is approaching 50, has she still got it?
Question by sesame: Madonna is approaching 50, has she still got it?
I like her – though she does a few things lately that scream desperation. Including the lyric “if someone wants to pimp your style” on one of her new album tracks.
I sense she became out of favour in the USA after American life?
I hate to say it, but if Madonna hasnt got “it” then who does?

Is Korea really that expensive as people say?
Question by : Is Korea really that expensive as people say?
I’m going to Seoul, Korea with my wife and son and I hear people keep saying that I will not survive there for the salary my company will give even though the company will give me and my family accommodation. In addition, I did college in U.S.A for about 5 years and I think I’m used the expensive life style compared to where I live now (KSA which is really cheap to live in).
So the question here is “is Korea really expensive for a family of three with a normal life style?”
My conclusion to this is that people are only exaggerating about this because same thing happened when I wanted to go to the U.S.A in 2006!!!!
Note: I will live there for only one year.
Thanks in advance

Why do UCs require us to take 4 years of literature?
Question by Annonymous: Why do UCs require us to take 4 years of literature?
I have taken 3 and a half years of high school literature, and I can safely say that the last year and a half have been nothing but a waste of my time. The only thing I might have gained from American Literature Honors (junior year) and Voices of Modern Culture (senior year) is a slightly more sophisticated writing style. But that was never the focus of either class, and thus could have been improved much more efficiently on my own. All we did in class was discuss bullshit themes in novels that have no proof of existence (Scrotie McBoogerballs anyone? – South Park reference). I know my writing definitely improved during my freshmen and sophomore years and I became better prepared for the SATs, but the latter is totally unnecessary. I looked up why we needed to study literature and all I see are reasons like “it will enhance your life”, “you’ll be able to see the viewpoints and values of other people”, and “you’ll need it if you ever want to be president or just some spokesperson because you’ll need to know how to write a good speech”. First off, any form of art can “enhance” my life. Music, film, and dance, are all life enhancing, so why is literature the only one required? Secondly I can see the viewpoints and values of other people just fine through television, Youtube, etc. – things that do a much better job at portraying an idea without any confusion. Why should we be reading books that aren’t getting to the point? And third, I think I’ll do just fine with what I’ve learned the first two years of high school and whatever I might learn in college. It’s not like I’ve learned anything the last year and a half that will help me. What good will these two more years of “literature” do for me, or anyone else in high school?

You sound like an immature, unsophisticated philistine. Words can convey much deeper, richer thoughts than a YouTube video, a television program, or even a full length feature movie. Ever hear someone say “The book was better”? Have you thought why? It is because a movie tries to compress a very complicated, deep story into a very short space of time, thus leaving out essential detail. Your inability to appreciate that detail (i.e. “why should we be reading books that aren’t getting to the point?”) makes you intellectually lazy and unfit to appreciate many of the finer works of literature which have inspired people over the centuries.
If you think the human experience should be like pre-chewed food (“…things that do a much better job at portraying an idea without any confusion”), then you are in for a shocker when you finally reach adulthood. The human experience is by its nature confusing and full of ambiguity; great literature and great stories help prepare and guide us along that journey.
Your rant also makes me doubt your ability to engage in most serious work that involves critical thinking, analysis, and patience. Maybe the simplicity of setting the cooking timer at a fry station at your McDonald’s job appeals to you more? It is sad that you have chosen to complain rather than to make an honest attempt. Good luck with your life…

Guys, Im home ill today and thought I would use this opportunity to rap up the 4 remaining principles of Intuitive Eating. Principle # 7 is: Cope with Your Emotions without Using Food Find ways to comfort, nurture, distract, and resolve your issues without using food. Anxiety, loneliness, boredom, anger are emotions we all experience throughout life. Each has its own trigger, and each has its own appeasement. Food won’t fix any of these feelings. It may comfort for the short term, distract from the pain, or even numb you into a food hangover. But food won’t solve the problem. If anything, eating for an emotional hunger will only make you feel worse in the long run. You’ll ultimately have to deal with the source of the emotion, as well as the discomfort of overeating. Please note that if you are currently dieting and its working for you then go for it. This video is in no way telling you what to do or suggesting that your way to a healthy life style is wrong! Im just expressing my feelings based on my own personal experience.
